Performance Valve Train Components

Valves

DP Performance Series engine valve are manufactured under our strict standards to assure premium quality with closest tolerance and eccentricity levels that are ensured from state of the art cnc machines.

Valve manufacturing process starts with 3D CAD models according to customer needs and engine specs. Years in increased cylinder head flow research can assure the final horse power increase of your engine.

Homologated valves for Rally engines, increased head sizes, reduced stem sizes for weight reduction, different angled heads are some of the applications that our valves can cover.

All valves are made either from forged or billet materials such as steel, inconel or titanium type. Hollow stem valves can also be available on custom ordering. The different alloys available for usage are to enable our customers a choice in order to customize the valve for top performance according to the designated application high engine technical specifications.

Valves can be supplied as separate parts or as complete valve train kits with valve guides, valve seats and billet valve locks according to customer needs. In some cases like undersized stems for weight reduction would require a special smaller inner diameter valve guide and in cases like that a complete kit will be supplied.

Special coatings as black nitriding, hard chrome plating and QPQ are also available on the steel type valves for increasing wear resistivity of the valve.

Valve Guides

Racing valve guides from either phosphorus bronze or berrilium copper are available according to the application and customer needs. Valve guides are full cnc machined for highest accuracy and consistency/repeatability and are checked individually.

They all come finished in outer dimensions and can be either finished or semi finished on the inner dimensions according to customer needs.

OEM sizes, oversized in outer dimensions or oversize in inner dimensions are possible in all part numbers.

Small batch custom manufacturing is also welcomed

Valve seats

Valve seats in steel, aluminum silicon bronze or berrilium copper materials are available for a wide range of engines and applications.

Steel performance series valves can use both steel or bronze type seats when titanium valves would appreciate berrilium copper seats.

Small batch manufacturing is also welcomed with quick turnaround times

Cam Followers

Cam Followers have been among the most important engine components. DP controlled manufacturing processes, CAD design and FEA analysis will ensure innovation in cam follower design and manufacturing good enough for any field of motor sport application.

Two different choices of materials like 4340 chromoly steel or the highest quality even stronger H13 tool steel for the most demanding applications.

Both of our material type followers are nitride heat treated which offers several advantages over carburised treatments, such as excellent levels of hardness, and retainment of dimensional accuracy. The Nitrided component is resilient to softening and will retain its surface hardness up to temperatures of 500 degrees C, where on cooling the whole component will revert to its original hardness. These components are less easily heat damaged by temporary lubrication failure than their carburised counterpart. Nitride hardening improves fatigue strength and a mean hardness of 750-950 HV is achieved by using custom baskets allowing the component to be uniformly exposed to the process.

Tool steel followers offer of course higher strength than normal chormoly ones since the actual material is stronger already plus the hardness levels pre-grounding is increased.

Retainers

All DP retainers are made in-house at our factory premisses using the latest CNC machines to insure quality and batch to batch consistency. All of them are CAD designed and FEA analysed for accurate weight reduction and ensuring high rigidity. Retainers are made using 2 different materials according to engine needs and application. First and most common material is chromoly steel nitrided for added wear resistance and in addition there is always the choice of titanium retainers. A typical DP titanium retainer weighs about 50% less than it's stock steel counterpart.
